YALO Nightly Observing Report for 1999 Dec 15 Observer: Juan Espinoza Observed all night from 0030 to 0830 UTC. Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the summary for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Hello; Program completed with lots of difficulties: 1) Although not too important, I had some trouble with the brightness dial in the guiding camera (it stoped working). but it was soon fixed by one of the electronics guys. Or better said, temporarily replaced by one that belongs to the 60 in. Telescope. (thank you Esteban). 2) Crash in IR during observations for CHILE_PONT with the .obs Script fgmonij.obs from the wich I recovered in the usual manner except this time I fail to notice that the order of the filing number secuence got reseted to ir991215.0001.fits and not to what it should have been (ir991215.0173.fits). I notice this later on when I started the object star for Portugal and it sore of threw things out of order as far as keeping track of what is what. Not only that, but for some reason it renamed and changed the owner code and object name for some of the targets for CHILE_PONT (this is the first time this happens to me). What is most weird is that it fixed itself at some time. Can not tell when. In all, all targets were observed even though the logs show nothing but a mess during this period. 3) And most important; the dat drive has been failing constantly and it is getting very difficult to keep up with space in the disk because it takes too long to record data, thus becoming very dangerous as far as taking data in the upcoming days. Sorry to be the one to bring this burden of worrying from such a distance but all of you guys should know. We need a drive fast and we have none in thhe mountain to spare.
