YALO Nightly Observing Report for 2000 Jan 2 Observer: Juan Espinoza Observed all night from 0045 to 0835 UTC. Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the summary for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: For unknown reasons the Observing Program for Jan 2, 2000 did not arrived to me and because of that I was not able to execute the program accordingly. I was able to talk to Rui A. before the beginning of the night and get some Idea of what to do. However, Charles B. sent the Jan. 2nd program at a later time (1:00 am) and I decided to continue with Rui's recommended program (as you will see in the Logs). A0620 was observed intead of all Portugal targets and Rene Mendez's sdss0539 instead of den0255 because I figured out that this was the object star to be observed - I was wrong. Nick Suntzeff's SN1999em observed accordingly. Image filing naming: Before the start of the night I consulted Rui on how to name the images file #s and he recommended to start with the number 2000 instead of 00 (because I told him that on UNIX the computer will not accept the two zeroes when it actually happened on IRAF) Anyways, the filing numbering goes as follows: ccd000102.000*.fits ir000103.000*.fits This way did not seem too confusing to me so I figured it shoudn't be confusing to all of you also -- Correct me If am wrong. IRAF: Has not been updated for Y2K and therefore I was not able to read header information -- This only affects me (I imagine) and I should have it corrected later on today. Rui: I promise I will have the timing figures as early as 9:00pm your local time, later on today. Everything else is working fine -- No crashes of any kind ------------------------------ Submitted by Juan Espinoza on 19100 Jan 3 [3:30:10]
