YALO Telescope Observer's Report for 2000 Oct 8 Observer: Juan Espinoza Observed for most of the night from 00:10 to 07:55 UTC. Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the summary for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Hello to all - Kathy arrived this afternoon just in time for calibrations and an all around crash course of Yalo tricks. Unfortunately, as Murphy would have it, we experience many problems tonight such as bad seeing (or better said, very variable seeing), crashes and some errors from my part that did nothing more than confuse Kathy a little. Errors such as wrongly calibrated Dome Flats because of having them done with the wrong dither position. The reason being that last night's crash happened during a dithering and I forgot to reset the position of the tilt mirror on IR. Another problem for tonight was changing temperatures (along with variable seeing) that 'caused not so good images during most of the night. The program was modified in order to fit all targets, specially Aql X-1. Lisbon target J0111-1357 was not observed (save for one frame on each instrument) because of beeing out the good part of the chip for there was no guiding star inside the good part of the chip. Magnitude for Aql X-1: R = 1.05 V = 1.63 R = 1.08 after 23:30 that is all cheers ------------------------------ Submitted by Juan Espinoza on 2000 Oct 9 [6:02:04]
