NGC 2617: Dramatic Seyfert Type Change

There is an old saying that goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words." For (some) astronomers, if a picture is worth a thousand words, then a spectrum is worth a thousand pictures. This might be true in this case: comparing the 2013 spectrum of NGC 2617 obtained by J. Prieto with the Apache Point Observatory 3.5m-telescope to 6dF galaxy survey spectrum taken in 2003, we noticed a dramatic spectral evolution, which led to observations with many ground-based and space telescopes. Read this ATel to see what that has to do with ASAS-SN.
