TIFKAM ICIMACS Troubleshooting:

Check the status lights on both monochrome monitors. They should be exactly
as shown on the TIFKAM ICIMACS Startup procedure. If not, follow the procedure
below that corresponds to the problem:

-DISK
On the IC: Type DW T, otherwise:
First attempt: Power down and perform a full system startup.
Second Attempt: Check the SCSI cable running between the IC and WC.
Power down and perform a full system startup.

-UPSYNCH or -SYNCH
First Attempt: Type RESTART on either the WC or IC keyboard.
Second Attempt: Power down and perform a full system startup.
Third Attempt: Check the SCSI cable running between the IC and WC.
Power down and perform a full sysytem startup.

-DNSYNCH
First Attempt: Type RESTART on the WC keyboard.
Second Attempt: Make sure caliban is running on the sparc.
Third Attempt: Check the SCSI cable running between the WC and the external disk enclosure in the rack. Power down and perform a full system startup.

-AR
First attempt: Type "ariel" on the WC keyboard. Wait about ten seconds.
Second attempt: Power down WC, turn it back on and follow the WC instructions in the system startup procedure

-IC
First attempt: Type "recover" on the WC keyboard.
Second attempt: Check 9-pin grey or white cable between the IC and WC. It should run between a com port on the IC and a com port on the WC. Type "recover" on the WC keyboard.
Third attempt: Check cables again. Power down and perform a full system startup.

-TELESCOPE
First attempt: Check that the WC is connected to the sparc serial expander board, serial 1, via the white 25-pin serial cable. Then type "tcinit" at the WC keyboard.
Second Attempt: Follow system startup procedure.

-SEQUENCER
First attempt: Type "+seq" at the IC keyboard. Try to take an exposure. If it reverts to -SEQ...
Second attempt: Check the fiber cables on the back of the IC and on the head electronics box connected to the instrument. Repeat first attempt.
Third attempt: Turn off power to IC. Remove IC cover. The sequencer is the third card from the bottom. Make sure it is firmly seated in its slot. GENTLY make sure the small connectors off the top of the board are firmly seated. Leave the cover off the IC. Follow the system restart procedure.

IE BUSY
Don't attempt anything. This seems to be OK.

-BURST
Type "+BURST" at the IC keyboard

FROZEN
Type "THAW" at the IC keyboard

CONCISE
This is not actually an error. It only means that intermachine messages will not be echoed. During debugging it helps to see such messages. If you wish, type "VERBOSE" at the IC keyboard

+DEBUG
First attempt: Type "-DEBUG" at the IC keyboard
Second Attempt: Type "DEBUG 0" at the IC keyboard
