(ICIMACS = Instrument Control and Image
Acquisition System
All ICIMACS systems include a data acquisition PC - the instrument
computer, or IC - which communicates with the detector through a set of
optical fibers, and to the outside world through a serial port for commands
and a SCSI bus cable for data. Other PC's may be included that add speed
and/or features to the system.
