Alternative tracks of black hole--galaxy co-evolution

The current paradigm of black hole--galaxy co-evolution is driven in part by theoretical models of hierarchical galaxy formation. The observed correlations between BH mass and bulge properties of host galaxies are naturally explained by these merger-driven models. I will discuss observational results that question all aspects of the current paradigm and argue for alternative tracks of BH--galaxy co-evolution.
