In the "PERSONAL STATEMENT" space, you may like to consider the 
following points,

Use whtatever are relevant to you, for describing your interest in APS
membership and reasons for free or subsidized memberhsip:

a) Interested in APS membership to be in the network of other
colleagues in the US and other developed countries

b) For APS scientific news alerts for recent advances,

c) Scientific presentations at APS meetings where a collaborator can
present if you can not attend,

d) Creates scope to interact and collaborate with US scientists

e) Access APS journals free or at subsidized rates

f) Hold regional conferences with APS selected speakers

g) APS membership fee is very high

h) The possibility to attend an APS conference in the US is very low
because of US visa difficulty and high cost. However, through APS
membership you will be exposed to many on going research highlights and
activities 

i) Your government is not enthusiastic in helping you, financially or
through facilitation, to make scientific advances through visits in the
US and collaboration

- Mention that you are aware of free APS membership proposal by Sultana N. 
Nahar and the support of FIP and Amy Flatten.

- Students, such as, studying for a degree, BS, MS, or Ph.D. may get 
free membership automatically.
