Hubble Space Telescope Image of Betelgeuse

This is the first image of a star (other than the Sun) which resolves the stellar disk. The image was taken in March 1995, using the Faint Object Camera on the Hubble Space Telescope. The apparent size of Betelgeuse is approximately 0.1 arcsecond.
