Cosmos Mariner: Destination Unknown

After graduating from Neenah High School in Neenah, WI (class of '79), I received a BA ('83) from Northwestern University, where I was a student in the Integrated Science Program. My PhD ('87) is from the department of astrophysical sciences at Princeton University. I did stints as a postdoc at the CfA and CITA. I am currently an associate professor in the department of astronomy at The Ohio State University. My main research interests are in galaxies and in the large scale structure of the universe. My textbook, Introduction to Cosmology, was published by Addison Wesley in 2002, and has won the Chambliss Astronomical Writing Award of the American Astronomical Society. The prequel, entitled Foundations of Astrophysics, by Barbara Ryden and Bradley Peterson, will be published by Addison Wesley in spring 2009. For more details of my life, grab a copy of my curriculum vitae (PostScript format).
