OSMOS VPH Grism Wavelength Calibration

Matthias Dietrich has performed a comprehensive analysis of wavelength calibration with OSMOS using the MDM calibration system and kindly made all of these data available. Below are his data, which include line lists, line identification figures, and some fits.

The line lists are based on data from the NIST Atomic Database and include their relative strength information. The wavelengths of all lines are given in air.

Matthias' recommendations for wavelength calibrations are Argon for the Inner/Red slit and Xenon for the Center slit. In both cases he exposed for 300s with the 1.2" slit (scale exposure time upwards if using a narrower slit) and then used a 4th order polynomial for the dispersion solution. Note that cruder wavelength calibrations can be obtained relatively quickly with 5s (again for the 1.2" slit) observations of the Neon and/or HgNe lamps.
