"PROF. HARUN-AR-RASHID PRIZES IN PHYSICS AT
UNIVERSITY OF DHAKA, BANGLADESH"
There are three annul awards in Physics honoring lecacy of Prof.
Harun-ar-Rashid.:
Each award will consist of i) a certificate of excellence, ii) a
shield with monogram of University Dhaka and logo of FOP on the
front and a short biography with a picture of Prof. Harun-ar-Rashid
on the back, and iii) an honorarium. The certificates will be signed
by the Vice Chancellor or
Academic Pro Vice Chancellor of the university or the Dean of Faculty of
Science and the Chair of the Department of Physics.

ACTIVITIES:
Prof. A. M. Harun-ar-Rashid was one most well known Physicist of
Bangladesh. He worked with Nobel laureate Abdus Salam for his Master's thesis
and served in the
Nobel prize committee a few times. His research publications covered
largely in high energy physics and nuclear physics. He mentored highly
talented students of the Department of Physics of University of Dhaka.
He published a number of textbooks that are used in Bangladesh universities.

He passed away in 2021. Here is his eulogy in the Department of Physics of
University of Dhaka:

AWARDS:
In May 2023, Prof. Tahmina Rashid, two news of Sultana - Ahsan Uddin
Ahmed and Hasmat Shaista Ghani, along with Prof. Dastegir of Physics and
Prof. Zia of BUET met with VC Prof. Akhtaruzzaman regarding
the recognition program.
August 30, 2023: Endowment hand over event at the Conference room of the
