  • Support, encourage, and help, strengthen the confidence of Muslim women in Science education and profession

    - Yet, many of us are successfully contributiong to advances in science

    "he International Society of Muslim Women in Science, otherwise known as ISMWS, here at Ohio State is an international organization dedicated to the support, encouragement, help, and strengthening of confidence of Muslim women in the field of science, campus wide and beyond. ISMWS consists of many Muslim Women of different backgrounds, levels of study, fields of science, and more. We are here to serve as a resource for you all on campus and to help one another in our pursuits for the advancement of Muslim women in science.   • January 17-19, 2024: ISMWS Organized and hosted Program Scientist of NASA Missions, Dr. Hashima Hasan, of NASA Headquarters along with student organization International Society of Muslim Women in Science at Ohio State for a public lecture session for students and NASA mission objective presentations at Astronomy Department, Januray 17-19, 2024


    i) Public lecture session, ii) Public lecture at Ohio Union, iii) Certificate and OSU pin recognition, iv) Q&A continued after the public lecture, iv) student leaders welcome Dr. Hashima with OSU symbolic gifts Dr. Hashima also made presentation in the Astronomy Department, and had social event with Columbus Folk Dancers and dinner with student leaders

  • Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) published an article "Breaking the barriers" as one of OSC highlights in its annual magazine in September 20201. The article is on Sultana Nahar's work under Internaitonal Society of Muslim Women in Science. The article has been a highlight on the home page of osc in 2021.

  • A presentation was made by faculty advisor Dr. Nahar which was followed by Q&As from the participants and graduate student Ihsan Rodriguez in Clinical Psychiatry.

    President's report: "ISMWS participated in OSU's summer 2020 virtual involvement fair. We recruited 12 new members, and talked to multiple people about the goals and visions for our organization. We plan on building a strong community of Muslim women in science through virtual meetings this semester."
