Barbara Sue Ryden

I received a BA ('83) from
Northwestern University, where I was a student in the
Integrated Science Program.
My PhD ('87) is from
the
department of astrophysical sciences
at Princeton University.
I served terms as a postdoc at
the CfA
and CITA.
I am currently a professor in the
department of astronomy at
The Ohio State University,
where I serve as a facilitator at
AstroCoffee.
My main research interests are in galaxies
and in the large scale structure of the universe. My textbook
Introduction to Cosmology
(1st edition ©2003, 2nd edition ©2017), won the
Chambliss Astronomical
Writing Award of the American Astronomical Society.
Foundations of Astrophysics, written with
Brad Peterson, was published in 2009. I am currently
at work on the Ohio State Graduate Astrophysics Series,
a set of ebooks based on the graduate curriculum of the
Ohio State University astronomy department.
